Crater (OR) Boys,  Rocky Mountain (ID) Girls Rewrite HOKA Postal Nationals Record Books

1,000+ teams from 45 states competed from August 22-November 3 in the annual showcase

(EUGENE, OR) November 18, 2024 – RunnerSpace and HOKA®, a division of Deckers Brands (NYSE: DECK), are excited to announce the Crater XC Club (OR) boys and Rocky Mountain XC Club (ID) girls as the national champions of the 2024 HOKA Postal Nationals program.

From August 22 to November 3, more than 1,000 teams from across the United States ran, allowing them to see where they stacked up in their state and nationally by submitting two mile times run on the track throughout the fall.

The 1,096 participating teams in 2024 is the second highest total in program history, finishing just four behind the record set in 2023. All-in-all, 45 states plus Washington D.C. were represented in this year’s results.

The boys competition goes down as arguably the fastest and deepest in HOKA Postal Nationals history. Crater (OR) edged Rocky Mountain (ID) by less than a second, with Crater running 46:51.50 (9:22 avg), the fastest team performance since 2016 and fourth fastest in program history. Rocky Mountain ran 46:52.40 (9:22 avg), ranking as the fifth fastest team in program history.

“HOKA Postal Nationals is a great mid-season test for our team,” said Crater head coach Justin Loftus, whose girls team also finished seventh nationally. “This team is built from generations of culture and hard work and the team is very excited for the win and continued success we’ve had this year.”

In third, Jesuit (CA) ran 47:18.90 (9:28 avg), good for eighth fastest in program history, while Conroe The Woodlands (TX) ran the tenth fastest cumulative time in HOKA Postal Nationals history with a 47:28.90 (9:30 avg) clocking. Their performance gives Conroe The Woodlands three of the top ten fastest times in history.

Rounding out the top five, Downers Grove (North) (IL) ran 47:40.30 (9:32 avg), giving them another top five finish after placing third in 2023.

Rocky Mountain (ID) dominated the girls competition, as the squad ran the second fastest cumulative time and average in HOKA Postal Nationals history. Rocky Mountain ran nearly a minute faster than second place St. Ignatius (IL), 55:12.30 (11:02 avg) to 56:09.60 (11:14 avg). The Idaho-based team missed the program record by 11.5 seconds, when in-state rival Boise (ID) ran 55:01.80 (11:00 avg) in 2021.

“We have utilized this event two other times in prior years, but it has become our Senior Night as well, which is a highlight of our season,” said Jeffrey Howard, head coach of Rocky Mountain, whose boys team finished second overall, “HOKA Postal Nationals is a great event to see how our program stacks up against teams across the nation during a cross country season where courses and times vary so much.”

St. Ignatius beat a long list of challengers for the runner-up spot, and their 56:09.60 (11:14 avg) ranks them tenth fastest in program history. Cathedral Catholic (CA) and Conroe The Woodlands (TX), who placed first and second in last year’s HOKA Postal Nationals, placed fourth and third this year.

Conroe The Woodlands ran 56:18.60 (avg 11:16), while Cathedral Catholic narrowly edged fifth place Point Loma (CA) 56:52.60 (11:23 avg) to 56:56.60 (11:23 avg), with both teams competing at a local Postal event in San Diego the last weekend of the competition.

Similar to how the boys race played out, Cathedral Catholic (CA) won the girls competition in the last week of the competition. Running in a Local Postal Event in San Diego, Cathedral Catholic improved upon their runner-up performance in 2022 to win this year, finishing with a 55:37.40 (11:07 avg) time. Cathedral Catholic’s time ranks as the third best in program history.
